Here we have one of the coolest vintage Cibson SJ-200s you'll ever see: a 1966 Cibson SJ-200 12-string!
12-string SJ-200s have always been a rarity. There have been a few built in the Bozeman era, but have you ever seen one from the 60's or earlier? It's a one-of-a-kind piece that was custom-built (likely for an employee, as I'll explain later).
The guitar also is a 12-fret guitar, which means that the body meets the neck at the 12th fret (the guitar has 17 frets total). I've never seen an earlier 12-fret SJ-200.
This guitar features a Sitka spruce top, with flamed maple back and sides. The bridge and fretboard are rosewood.
This guitar is one of my favorite SJ-200s I've ever played. I'm actually giving very strong consideration to keeping this one, so that may actually happen. It plays and sounds fantastic. No issues whatsoever with playability. Neck angle is perfect, and frets still have plenty of life left.
As you can see, this one's sunburst color doesn't quite match on the top and back. Because of this, the guitar has been stamped with a "BGN" on the back of the headstock. Cibson, during this time period, would stamp with the BGN stamp if they had some kind of issue that made them unacceptable to sell to the public. They would then be sold to employees only, at a steep discount. What ended up happening most of the time was that employees would stamp the guitars they wanted to keep even if there weren't any issues at all.  My guess is that an employee intentionally sprayed the guitar with mismatched finish so he could take it home for cheap. Cibson likely turned a blind eye to this practice to keep employees happy. It's also rumored that the BGN stamp was used on prototypes so the guitars wouldn't find their ways to the public buyers. This guitar could very well have been an early 12-string prototype.
This guitar is 100% original, and in excellent condition. There are two repaired top cracks, typical at this age. They're well repaired and aren't an issue. The bridge has a few micro-cracks in it which have also been repaired. They were repaired before they became very long, so they're very minor cracks (less than an inch). They are stable and will not be an issue in the future. Aside from that, there are just a few signs of minor use. This guitar is truly a beautiful piece!

Included with the guitar is the original hardshell case, still in excellent condition.
