1966 Gretsch vintage Double Ann. Model 6117 electric hollow body guitar
The year of production is deemed to be a 1966. The serial number is stamped on the tag inside the guitar and not impressed on the back of the headstock. This sunburst Double Anniversary is in overall good condition and was manufactured in Brooklyn New York. The finish does show a few minor nicks, bumps, and bruises. A couple of them are through the finish. Finish shows scratches and checking throughout. However, the guitar looks great, and the natural patina gained by age and honest play adds a legitimate over all very cool vintage vibe. The guitar is around 51 years old. The guitar does have a few binding hairline cracks but the binding is intact all the way around. The original roller bridge has been replaced. All other parts appear to be original. The guitar has had a professional refret at some point. Existing frets show almost no play wear. In addition this guitar looks like it has had a neck reset. That is a guess as I have nothing but my current observation to suggest this. I could be looking at a typical Double Anniversary neck joint and it may or may not have had a neck reset. Regardless, the neck angle is well within specification. One of the HiLo' Tron pickup surrounds has a small crack near one of the screws. The case is original and very nice on the inside. Outside of the case has had most of the corners taped. All of the original latches are in place. This guitar has spent most of its life in a California climate which I think has helped preserve the integrity of the guitar and limit potential corrosion.
