1970 Rickenbacker 370 Vintage Electric Guitar Jetglo, Toaster Pickups w/hc 360

Up for sale, a 1970 Rickenbacker 370 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This triple pickup beauty sports its original sleek black "Jetglo" finish, and a trio of stock Toaster Top single coil pickups that have plenty of articulation and chime. Essentially an upscale triple pickup (and much rarer) version of the 360, this 370 is a player-friendly vintage example, with an upgraded bone nut and newer fretwire that has a bit more width and crown than what you typically find on a vintage Rickenbacker!
The tone is crystal clear, and sparkles with top end sweetness and chime that is quintessential Rickenbacker. The hollow maple body with neck through construction gives the 370 a sustain, immediate attack and richness found with few electric guitar designs, and it's no wonder that top players of the British Invasion and folk boom of the 1960's gravitated towards Rickenbacker for their top notch construction and tone. Equipped with stereo "Rick-o-Sound" functionality, and a middle pickup exclusive to the 370 model (coupled to the neck pickup when using the three-way pickup selector), the 370 has more fullness and midrange heft than its brother the 360, and the smaller fifth knob on the Rickenbacker control plate is very useful on this model for blending in the right amount of low end when in the middle position. Weighing in at a mere 7lbs 3oz, this guitar is easy on the back and has been professionally setup here at our shop, Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar.
The neck has a fairly slender C shaped profile with gently sloping shoulders and a very comfortabe feel. The bound rosewood fretboard retains its original gloss nitro lacquer finish, and the guitar has been professionally refretted. The frets show notable wear down at the nut beneath the plain strings, with grooves beneath the G and B strings from frets 1-7, with fainter flattening of the fret crowns until roughly the octave. The guitar plays well up the neck with no notable buzzing or dead spots, and the lacquered board shows some wear down to the bare rosewood in spots between frets 1-7 from honest use. The nut measures 1 5/8" in width and is a hand polished and piece of bone that adds noticeably to the resonance and clarity of the instrument. On the headstock, the original lucite Rickenbacker logo/truss rod cover is present, along with a set of reissue Kluson-style tuning machines. The guitar was at one time fitted with a different set of tuners, as evidenced by the light ghosting of larger tuner bushings on the face of the headstock, and some light touchup adjacent to the current gears on the back.
The body retains a trio of original Toaster Top single coil pickups, wired to a replacement wiring harness that is faithful to original spec. The original knobs and two-tier pickguard are intact, as well as the original six saddle bridge and chrome "R" tailpiece. Beneath the pickguards, its notable that the guitar was originally slated to be a 365, but as is very common with vintage Rickenbackers, this changed before the guitar left the factory. We've verified the original paint in the wire route for the middle pickup and also beneath the R tailpiece to confirm that this guitar left Rickenbacker as a true 370. The original black nitro lacquer finish is intact, with moderate buckle rash on the back and various small nicks and dings, but no serious wear of any kind. Aside from the aforementioned light finish touchup near the tuners, the finish is 100% original, and the guitar has zero breaks or repairs. Structurally sound and simply a ton of fun to play, it's clear that this Ric was "one of the good ones," and that's why it's seen such consistent use over the decades.
A modern Rickenbacker hardshell case is included.
