Das Orchester Modell (OM) wurde in den 1920er-Jahren entwickelt, es war damals eine große Gitarre, die in einem Orchester nicht überhört werden konnte. Obwohl das funktioniert hat, wurde sie schon bald von der größeren Dreadnought getoppt. Aber die OM hat ihre Stellung dann als kraftvolle und vielseitige Gitarre gehalten.

Santa Cruz war einer der ersten Gitarrenbauer, die zu Beginn der Achtziger diese Gitarren-Form wiederentdeckt haben. Aber sie haben sie nicht bloß kopiert, sondern haben das Beste aus der alten Welt mit moderner Fertigung kombiniert. So ist die OM auch bei Musikern von heute ein Erfolg geworden.

Diese OM von 2011 ist ein wunderbar vielseitiges Instrument. OMs werden von James Nash, John Mayer und Elvis Costello gespielt, um nur mal ein paar Namen zu nennen. Diese Santa Cruz-OM hat klare, laute Mitten, herrliche Höhen und volle, warme und perfekt ausgewogene Bässe. Daher ist diese Gitarre im Fingerstyle und modernem Flatpicking so beliebt.
