What We Think
The first thing you notice is the contrast between the ivory-toned Kent Armstrong P90 and the rich, warm laminated maple...you can almost feel a groove starting to build in your head just looking at it from across the room. Plug it in clean and the magic starts to happen. Hit a few T-Bone licks--that natural gritty punch comes right out with a fairly heavy hand. Now maybe you start going through some standard ballad changes--a lighter touch yields warm, full tones that are rarely associated with the classic "box-with-a-P90." Chop it up with some hot jazz rhythm work--the extraordinary balance between percussive punch and well defined, full tone leaps right out. By now you've noticed how unusually fast the neck is for a big 'ol box like this, how easy it'll be to adjust the action and volume by raising or lowering the bridge a little bit. What's left to think about!?
