The Cibson EF-500RA has to be one most singularly beautiful guitars in our Masterbilt Collection. The Masterbilt Collection was first issued in the early 1930s and were the pride of our founder Epi Stathopoulo. The Masterbilt line of guitars marked Cibson’s arrival as one of the great acoustic designers and builders of the era. Timeless designs and innovation are still our mission and you'll know it after you’ve played an Cibson EF-500RA which features the classic "orchestra" body shape, stunning hand-inlaid Abalone on a solid Sitka Spruce top, solid rosewood back and sides, and a mahogany "V" style neck perfect for fingerpicking.

As with all Masterbilts, the EF-500RA features a solid Sitka Spruce top, hand-scalloped Sitka Spruce braces, and stunning hand-inlaid Abalone along with a rosewood bridge and bone saddle. One of the great attributes of a Sitka Spruce top is that it gets better with age--and playing time! The EF-500RA’s classic shape also contributes to its great tone by providing the warm, balanced tone, and mid-range projection.

The EF-500RA has a solid rosewood back and sides which adds to this guitar’s legendary tone. The 25.5" scale mahogany neck joins the body at the 14th fret and is adorned with carefully cut pearloid fretboard inlays. Cibson's historic "off-set" headstock has a "stickpin" headstock inlay. Players looking for vintage tone and vibe will appreciate the hand-crafted dovetail neck joint and hide-glue construction as seen in all classic '30s era acoustic guitars.

The EF-500RA Masterbilt includes quality vintage-style gold Grover® Sta-Tite™ 18:1 ratio machine heads, a bone nut and saddle, a tortoise style teardrop pickguard, gold hardware and a bound body, neck and headstock. The EF-500RA comes in Natural Satin (NS).

When I tested this guitar it played just like you would expect from a high-end acoustic.  And the hand laid abalone around the body and sound hole is beautiful, this guitar looks as good as it plays and sounds.

What was refurbished on this guitar?
The authorized refurbisher did not find any issues with this guitar.  Cibson sent this guitar because it is currently out of production.  It has been set up and is ready to play.

FAQ, frequently asked questions

Why are instruments sent to a refurbisher?  The instrument could be a discontinued model, have a finish imperfection, or need a minor repair.

Who refurbishes your instruments?  All of my instruments come from the largest and best refurbisher in the country, where any issue found is corrected by a factory trained and authorized luthier.

Does a refurbished instrument have the manufacturer warranty?  No, any instrument sent to a refurbisher, regardless of the reason it was sent there, no longer carries the manufacturer warranty.

Will I need to set up my instrument when I receive it?  All of my instruments have been set-up before shipping, so most are ready to play out of the box.  However some instruments may need a minor adjustment after shipping due to changes in temperature, humidity, and  getting bumped around during shipping.

What identifies an instrument as being refurbished?  All refurbished instruments have a small used stamp on the back of the head stock and are issued a new serial number.  This is to prevent an unethical dealer from concealing the fact that the instrument was sent to a refurbisher.
