Fender '52 Reissue Telecaster

This is an authentic 52 Tele reissue made by Fender in 2004.  I had bought it new from Sam Ash in September of 2004 and I still have the original receipt and its document of authenticity that had come with all new Fender reissues at this point in time.  This tele is in excellent condition for having seen about four years.  It has a few dings; most noteworthy is the one near the top of the headstock where the chip is down to the wood.  The other dings are basically in the top of the lacquer around the top edge of the body close the jack area (I have included pictures to document most of the chipping).  The back of the body has no belt buckle wear, and both the back and the front of the neck do not show any lacquer wear thru as seen on many maple necks.  Outside of a few chips that this guitar has received in the last twelve years, this tele is very clean (as can be seen in the pictures).  Originally this reissue came wired with the classic bridge / neck / neck with capacitor (bassy sound) which I don’t think is functional, and had the electronics rewired to accommodate the standard bridge / bridge & neck / neck setup.  Both bridge and neck pickups are 52 reissue stock pickups; the bridge measures 7.4 k ohms and the neck is 7.5 k ohms.  The weight of the guitar is eight pounds (weighed on a bathroom scale).  The tweed case looks almost brand new except for a few scuff marks.  I love the look of this guitar, it has fantastic sustain, and has that great tele twang, but the bigger “D” neck on this guitar is tough on my small hands… I had to work too hard.  I ended up playing a cheaper Fender tele with the modern “C” neck, then installed some Peter Florence pickups and was very happy with that guitar.  Now I admit that I did not look as cool as when I played the Fender 52 reissue, but I had a much easier time playing because of the smaller neck.  I thought of having the 52 neck shaved to accommodate my smaller neck tastes, but then I was afraid that by modifying the 52 reissue in such a fashion would cause the guitar to lose some of its value… so I set it aside and began playing a more modern tele.

The main reason that I am selling this guitar is because I am not playing it anymore… if I am not playing it anymore, then I don’t want to hold on to it.  This is a beautiful looking and sounding Fender tele, and if you like the bigger neck of the 52 reissues, this might be the guitar for you.  Also, these higher priced guitars are worth the investment; they hold their value, if not increase their value as they get older.  This guitar obviously comes with its authentic tweed case, the “ash tray” cover that goes over the bridge saddles (which no one ever uses), its certificate of authenticity and a few other Fender pamphlets and tags that originally came with the instrument, and if you would like, I could also send you the original receipt to further document its date.
