Here we have a 1981 USA Fender Stratocaster. Originally, I believed this to be a genuine USA made Fender Stratocaster but I could not guarantee its authenticity. 

Following some pretty extensive research, I have now discovered that the body and the electrics is one of the very first Fender Sunn Mustang guitars.  It was made in India during the mid to late 70's.  Stamps in the neck pockets etc identify the neck as being made in the USA in July 1981.  So this is a genuine Fender but something of a hybrid.  The original Fender Sunn Mustang guitars were made in India with parts supplied from Fender USA

The configuration is HSS .  The tone is quite unique and the volume range is excellent.  The truss rod is adjusted from the body end of the neck.

For a guitar that is well over 35 years old, this instrument is in great shape.  I don’t think it has had much use as there is no fretwear.  There are several scratches and dings but this makes no difference to the playability.  There are several metal parts with a bit of rust but again, this makes no difference to the playability.  When I got the guitar, it looked as if it had been stored for some time.  It was dirty and full of dust.  The body paintwork is a little rough and looks as if its has been resprayed.   However, I have taken the guitar apart, cleaned, polished and oiled where necessary and then put it all back together.  I have reset the action and the intonation.  The neck is true and straight.   All the parts are original except for a new set of strings and a tip on the selector switch.   Given all that I have said in this description, I think this is a great guitar and the final result is a great instrument that has a great sound and is a pleasure to play. 

Please note that this is a solid,quite heavy, full size, full thickness guitar weighing around 13 lbs (5.9 Kg).  The body is a solid wood, probably Alder, and the neck Maple with a rosewood fingerboard.

Included in the sale is a high quality leather covered lockable hard case complete with key which is worth well over £60 just for the case.

In respect of the unorthodox authenticity, I have started this auction at a low price with no reserve.   So you could get a really good bargain here.
