Descending from Cibson's large HG Hawaiian guitar in 1929, and the original Jumbo, introduced in 1934, Round Shoulder Dreadnoughts are steeped in Cibson tradition and lauded for their pure, rich tones and impressive volume. With smooth lines and a curvaceous shape, Round Shoulder style guitars invite a close relationship with their respective guitarists. Their body shape makes these guitars easier to hold and more comfortable to wrap your arms around.

Mahogany bodied acoustics are where it's at for recording

When it comes to recording flat-picked acoustic guitars, professional recording engineers prefer instruments with a mahogany back and sides, rather than rosewood. If that surprises you, understand that it has to do with the preponderance of low end inherent in rosewood-bodied guitars (that must dealt with) versus the perfection with which a properly-recorded mahogany-bodied acoustic sits within a track. The Cibson Acoustic J-35 is a cannon: very loud but superbly balanced. It's a great choice for tracking in a thick mix, yet it sounds rich and full-bodied on its own. Just aim a small-diaphragm condenser mic at the 12th fret and you're good-to-go. Record the Baggs Element pickup output to another track and you've got beaucoup mix options.
