This DVD set was designed for someone who would like to repair his own vintage guitars.  It includes DVDs that look towards repairing the most common problems with older guitars.
The "50 Tools" DVD describes many homemade tools that can be used in the process of repairing guitars. Fret Installation Basics will demonstrate how to replace frets.  Repairing the Lifted Bridge explains the process of repairing a bridge that has lifted off the soundboard over time. Replacing the Truss-rod covers the difficult task of removing the fretboard to replace a broken truss-rod. Replacing the Fretboard demonstrates the removal of the fretboard, how to make a new one and re-glue it onto the neck.  The Acoustic Guitar Set-up DVD covers how to make final set-up adjustments on the guitar. There  are some video clip examples of some of the DVDs below.

 Replacing the Truss -rod.

This DVD will show you how it is possible to replace a broken truss rod in your home workshop. Basic carpentry skills and knowledge are required. The DVD covers removal of the fretboard, replacing the truss rod and regluing of the fretboard. Filmed at my guitar building school in Milford, Connecticut, the entire process is broken down into individual steps.

Our videos differ from other similar videos on the market because we utilize two cameras during the filming process, allowing us to make real-time close-up shots during the presentation. A 1 hour DVD made for acoustic guitarists

This DVD will show you how set-up a typical acoustic guitar and covers many of the guitars weak points. It is perfect for the guitarist that wants the best out of his guitar. All avenues of improving the playability and sound are covered.

Filmed at my guitar building school in Milford, Connecticut, the entire process is broken down into individual steps. I cover the weak areas of the acoustic guitar, how sound is generated within the guitar, checking the trussrod, string height at the first fret, string height at the 12th fret, checking the bridge plate, checking the saddle, making sure the neck angle is correct, checking the string break angle across the saddle, how to check for sound board bow, installing strings correctly and many more important points of guitar set-up and troubleshooting.

Fret Installation Basics

A 35 minute guitar building DVD.

Applicable to both steel string and classical acoustic guitars, it provides a comprehensive and step-by-step overview of how to install, level, crown and polish fret wire. The various hand tools, special tools and power tools that are used during the process are discussed and shown. This video can also be used for basic set-up fret leveling and crowning. Presented by luthier Jamie Boss, the presentation was filmed at his Connecticut guitar building school. Dedicated tools designed especially for fret wire installation, leveling and crowning are also reviewed depth. It is part of a continuing series produced by Jamie on the art of acoustic guitar building. After viewing the video the beginning luthier will have specific knowledge of fret installation, leveling, crowning, filing fret ends, polishing and basic fret set-up procedures.

Repairing the Lifted Guitar Bridge

Applicable to both steel string and classical acoustic guitars, it provides a comprehensive and step-by-step overview of how to repair acoustic guitar bridges that have lifted from the soundboard.. The various hand tools, fixtures, special tools and power tools that are used during the process are discussed and shown.
