Beautiful 1960/1961 Höfner 500/5 bass in excellent but played condition, with some wear and tear, but structurally fine.

The other Beatles Bass! Played by Stu Sutcliffe in the Hamburg period before The Beatles were famous. Selmer from France distributed Höfner in the United Kingdom and this particular guitar has the toaster pickups that were used around 1960 & 1961 and are very similar in sound to the earlier used "Black Bar". This bass features a maple top, flame maple back/sides, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard. It is in Excellent condition and has well repaired dent in the side above the neck. This Bass is structurally sound and has already had a neck reset. The width at the nut is 1 11/16, the scale length is 765mm and the string spacing at the bridge is 44.9mm. It has a comfortable round D-shaped neck and its original tuners. Because of its hollow body only weighs 2.25kg and that is next to nothing when it comes to bassguitars. The holllowbody also gives it a voice all of its own, clear and well defined.
