"Levin - a name with music in it" is a documentary film about world renowned Swedish guitar manufacturer Levin, or Goya as they were known in the US. The film tells to the story about how young Herman Carlson Levin emigrates from Sweden to the US in the mid 1800s and learns how to build guitars in New York. In 1900 he returns to Sweden and starts his own guitar factory and for more than 80 years Levin builds instruments that still today are considered among the best of it's kind. In the film those who worked for and run Levin tells all about the rise and fall of the company including the 70s era when C F Martin was the owner of Levin. Collectors and musicians talk about and play Levin instruments, from the small parlor guitars of the 20s and 30s to the archtops of later decades. Besides interviews an extensive archive material of never before seen pictures and documents help tell the story.
