Item Description

This pre-owned acoustic guitar was hand built by the renowned luthier, Louis Mancuso, out of the Woodstock area of upstate New York. Lou built or worked on instruments for some of the greats during the heyday of the bluegrass revival, including Bob Dylan, members of The Band, and even did a repair for the late great Jimi Hendrix.

We love the look of handmade ornamentation, a mixture of imperfection and charm, and this Mancuso acoustic is full of it. Abalone trim surrounds the body, fretboard, and headstock, with abalone fretboard inlays and rosette. This is matched with a custom abalone Mancuso headstock logo and inlay.

The guitar is in good condition; however the action is a bit high, with a bit of sinking in the top, and it could use some heavy humidification. There is also a light crack on the top under the bridge. It sounds wonderful, with a spruce top and rosewood back sides delivering a powerful low end and rich harmonics. Other features include an ebony fretboard and bridge, mahogany bridge, maple heelcap, and Schaller tuners.
