HANDMADE U.S.A. O'Cuilleain
O'Cuilleain Fine, is a Custom Made-in-America Acoustic Guitar. If you want one, you are in for a lot of searching and waiting for one to be listed for two very good reasons. The first is the handling, sound, tone and looks are extrordinary so once an O'Cuilleain is owned, the owner is not likely to be selling it. The second reason is the fine O'Cuilleain handmade pieces obviously are not produced in large numbers so yours (and this) is indeed rare.
You can see that this looks very much like the D-35. I am a Martin fan so as much as I hate to say it, the O'Cuilleain is much more handsome with outstandingly beautiful binding and insets. The sound is fuller, deeper and has greater projection. This is a great piece to have-
O'Cuilleain is a hard to get handmade, quality custom dreadnought that Awesome in appearance, quality and character. It is especially decked out with abalone rosette, neck inlays, and body purfling. Its specialness is not limited to its looks, it has mesmerizing tonal response, is vibrant and gains fantastic clarity from its carefully constructed sound. A compressed low end and thick mid-range provide a good amount of body and the highs are crisp and clean. This is a great guitar for a player looking for his/her special guitar
Condition: This guitar is in very good condition overall. It does possess minimal use marks, a small chip in the back and a invisible top crack that has been repaired/cleated and has no affect on the sound or looks. The neck is straight and the truss rod functions as it should.
Body: Dreadnought body with spruce top and East Indian rosewood back and sides. Cream-bound front and back as well as abalone purfling on the top, back, and sides. Abalone rosette, bridge inlays, and bridge pin dots. Rosewood bridge. Red tortoise pickguard.
Neck: Soft V-shape mahogany neck w/ volute. Bound ebony fretboard with abalone inlays. 1 ¾” nut width. Gold Grover tuning machines. Custom abalone headstock inlay.
Weight: 5 lbs 12 oz
Playability/Sound: This guitar has a good amount of classic boxy-ness that dreadnoughts are known for, but has a response that greatly focuses on the fundamental and provides great clarity. The neck is a unique shape, but far from uncomfortable and suits low end cowboy chords and higher-fret melodies equally well.
