Sullivan Music Equipment P-Bass® pickups offer the best “Vintage Tone” available. Made of the highest quality components available and wound to vintage specs using time correct 42 AWG Formvar coil wire, ALNICO 5 magnet pole pieces, cloth lead wires and wax potted. This set is for a four string bass guitar using a split coil pickup configuration like a P-Bass®. SME P-Bass® pickups offer a loud, clear and even response with all the thump you expect from a high quality bass pickup.

Ohms output readings and coil temperature.

Ohms for our pickups are taken at the time they are wound with a average temperature of 78 degrees. It is completely normal for pickup Ohms readings to change with temperature changes. The average pickup wound at 78 degrees will drop about 0.2K after cooling and shipping to your location. Our shop is in Austin Texas and we have a higher average temperature than most of the U.S. so it is completely normal that your readings can be a bit lower.

All SME pickups are Handmade or sometimes called Scatter Wound to reduce the effects of a phenomenon called capacitance coupling which occurs when current paths are ran to close and in parallel with each other. In the pickup coil wound by machines the inner layers of wire are so precise and close to gather that this phenomenon of capacitance coupling builds up and eliminates the higher frequency harmonics to the point that the instrument sounds dull and lifeless. Don’t be fooled into buying pickups from a high volume manufacture just because your favorite guitar player is endorsed by company X. The only reason these companies use machines to wind their pickups is to save money and increase profits.

We scatter wind all our pickups by hand using vintage techniques so we can manufacture a pickup that has more over lapping current paths, this process creates a pickup with more clarity,more chime and a warmer tone.

Our pickups are made using the highest quality parts available, great care is taken to ensure the parts are prepared and manufacture to the highest standard. We inspect and test each pickup to make sure they meet our highest standards. We do not cook our magnets or apply chemicals to falsely age them as we feel this does nothing to improve the sound of the pickups. There are thousands of recordings made from the 50sand 60s that are revered as some the best sounding guitars ever played that never had a pickup artificially aged.

One Year Warranty

Sullivan Music Equipment offers a limited one year warranty on all pickups sold on eBay, this warranty covers all materials and workmanship for a period one year starting the date of purchase. The warranty does not cover physical damage caused during shipping or mishandling by installers. The eBay Buyer is responsible for return shipping cost.
