Vega 1970's vintage acoustic guitar VDX-84

 This is an exceptional and very scarce guitar by Vega International, a maker of premium guitars over many decades, although known more widely for their superb banjos. Made prior to mid-1970's, when C.F. Martin acquired Vega, which resulted in conversion to mass Asian production of considerably cheapened guitars equivalent to the "Sigma" brand guitars  Martin sold ---heavily braced, overbuilt tanks.  The Vega line prior to Martin's control was considerably more upmarket, with light X-bracing,  beautiful nitrocellulose finish, and more attention to tonal specs.  Made of beautiful (for tone and for looks)  aged spruce top, mahogany back and sides, razor straight mahogany neck with perfect, smooth hand rubbed satin finish on the back, and rosewood fretboard and bridge.  Depth of the body is about a quarter inch to 3/8" deeper than the Martin D-18 dreadnought, giving especially rich, clear bass with great sustain.  The guitar is in beautiful overall condition --with good accuracy of pitch (intonation) at all fret positions, and string  action set at 5/64ths for the bass E @12; and just slightly above 1/16" at the high E @12.  These great, playable stats are achieved even with its beefy, individually compensated bone saddle--thus a rich and hearty tonal response.  The rosewood fretboard and frets are in pristine condition.  No buzzing at any fret positions.  Beautiful, loud, complex tones and remarkable sustain make for excellent fingerpicking or pick play.    Bridge and neck connections are original and mint, including perfect finish at all joints--no "glaze cracking".
