1983 MARTIN D-19, EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN, RARE, AND NEARLY UNPLAYED.

For sale is a rare 1983 D-19 Martin guitar in remarkable, near unplayed condition. It is one of only 52 built with the 150th Year Martin Anniversary stamp. When the D-21 model was discontinued in 1969, there was no longer a guitar that sold for more than the D-18 but less than the D-28. These guitars, introduced in 1976, were introduced as an upgrade to the D-18 to fill that void in the market. They were built exactly as the D-18 except upgraded with deluxe appointments such as multi layered inlay style 28 sound hole trim, deluxe multi ply binding with double white, black layers on the top and single black, white, black on the back body, Rosewood neck heel cap, deluxe Martin tuners, style 28 bridge pins and end pin, and the most distinctive feature was the hand stained Spruce top giving this guitar a distinctive look of eloquence. The price was more than the D-18 and less than the Rosewood D-28 and like the D-21, the market price point would not support it. As a result not many were built. Unlike the D-21, the D-19 produced the exact same tone as the D-18 because it was constructed exactly the same with the same woods except for an upgraded top to receive the stain more evenly for a beautiful appearance. This specific guitar was a one owner and in extraordinary condition having been in the closet for most of it's life. It is 100% original everything. It exhibits scarcely any signs of play wear. There are no marks at all on the frets, only very few extremely slight scratches, no marks visible on the back, no finish wear anywhere on the guitar, no nicks on the peg head edges or guitar edges, no cracks or repairs anywhere. The bridge saddle has never been sanded, action is the same as the original specs, the top has zero belly or dipping, the neck is excellent. It is basically an unplayed, unsold guitar with only shop wear on it. It has not even had a strap button installed. It comes with the original Martin molded black hard case which is also very clean.
Lastly and most importantly, this is an excellent sounding guitar and plays great. Obviously, it sounds like you would expect a D-18 to sound being constructed the same
as the D-18 with solid Spruce top, solid mahogany back, sides, and neck, Rosewood bridge, fingerboard, and peg head overlay.
This is very responsive and louder than one would expect for not having been played. The mids are very punchy and highs are clear with good clean lows. It is light as a feather and you can feel the entire guitar vibrate as you play it. To sum it up, it is a beautiful guitar in my opinion and quite remarkable being in near unplayed condition and one of only 52 of that model opposed to 400 D-18's stamped with the 150th Martin Anniversary makes it both rare and potentially collectible and a conversation piece besides being a doggone good sounding guitar to play and enjoy. I believe this to be as fine an example of this model as one is apt to find.
