1988 J K LADO CANADA GOLDEN WING CUSTOM NECK THRU SUPERSTRAT GUITAR VGC RARE

Hello and thank you for looking!

Up for sale, is a truly unique and very rare J K Lado Golden Wing custom shop model, handbuilt in Ontario, Canada by Joe Kovacic.   Most likely a 1988 'one-off' model. Serial Number #1214. Solid maple body, with a three-piece maple neck, neck through body, ebony fretboard with bronze 'shark tooth' inlays. Wonderful and deep sunburst finish with gold piping.

A boutique custom made superstrat, has a Dimarzio hubmbucker on its' bridge as well as a DiMarzio single coil on its' neck (probably both are PAFs'), a German made Schaller  floating tremolo bridge with a locking nut, Schaller tuners, a three position switch/selector, one volume knob, and one tone knob.

Well known for their superb and highly detailed craftmanship, Lado guitars have produced a number of unique instruments, both bass and Electric guitars, including the Hawk, the Solo I/III series, the Supra, the Elite, and the well known Earth series, which earned fame for the brand, since it was extensively used by Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden;

Regarding condition, this guitar has been used for a number of years, thus it does have its' patina, along with some wear, as expected on a guitar of this age; there's a few small nicks on the finish, some extensive edgewear from rubbing (lower side), a paint chip on its' headstock, as well as another medium sized paint chip on its' rear lower side.  Most of these marks can get away as being characterized as 'relic' marks, though. No cracks to be found anywhere, and is solid as a rock. The finish still looks great and glossy, as visible in pictures.

The Schaller Floyd-Rose styled tremelo bridge has some extensive deterioration wear on its' finish, and the 'D' string 'wagon' has been replaced, with a mismatching Silver 'wagon'.

Frets are still in wonderful condition, and have never been actually replaced; the ebony fretboard is definitely wonderful and flawless, straight as an arrow, and the bronze leaf inlays have always been carefully polished when strings were replaced, in order to retain their brightness. The headstock is excellent, all tuners work fine, and there is no warping nor buzzing anywhere on the neck, as the guitar has always been carefully maintained by a professional luthier all these years, and has been handled with care and admiration.

Plays like a dream, the action is quite low, and its' solid maple body and neck produces some great harmonics (both artificial and natural) and squeals very nicely when needed; the clarity is wonderful (easily competes with several PRS models), and it's all about sharp treble and great sustain. Its' playability is an enhanced variation of a typical 80's custom superstrat, reminiscent of early ESP M II's, Hamer Californian, Jackson Soloist and early Kramer Stagemasters. The neck is 'D' shaped. The precision and quality of this instrument is matchless, by most aspects!

Definitely not a begginer's guitar, but certainly a fantastic guitar for shredding around like crazy!

Comes with a hardshell case (probably was the original case, as it was made in Canada as well), where the guitar will be carefully packed and wrapped in, when shipped.

A great example of a unique and beautiful custom made guitar, which puts many other superstrats of its' time to shame! New ones retail for around $5000 for basic models, so, this is not to be missed!
