Blueridge BR-140A Historic Craftsman Series Dreadnaught Guitar

Presenting the BR-140A Historic Craftsman Series Dreadnaught Acoustic Guitar by Blueridge

Looking back in history to unlock the secrets of what features truly make a great guitar, Saga Musical Instruments and Blueridge guitars have decided to raise the bar for production guitars by offering Adirondack spruce as an option to its already popular line of Blueridge guitars. What better way than to combine the already popular BR-140 with an upgraded Adirondack top? Introducing the BR-140A, truly a guitar with the look and sound as a result of that legendary material.

Body Wood Selection

The finest, solid Adirondack spruce is combined with either select, solid mahogany or choice solid East Indian rosewood of just the right thickness and density to provide consistent, excellent tone in every Blueridge guitar. The highest models feature a neck in one piece, solid mahogany selected for its stability as well as beauty. A super-strong, traditional dovetail neck/body joint is a feature of every model of Blueridge. With the finest selected tonewoods and careful construction techniques, each Blueridge guitar will provide musical enjoyment for generations.

Fingerboards and Fittings

The finest East Indian rosewood is used for fingerboards and bridges while select, solid ebony is reserved for the highest models, the BR-180A series. Tuning machines are vintage-style, open back models with Butterbean buttons, plated in either nickel or gold on the top models. These 14:1 ratio tuners turn easily and hold securely. They replicate the prewar original tuners but with much improved turning action, precision and longevity.

Construction

Prewar structural features are replicated throughout in every phase of these guitars’ construction. A small, maple bridge plate reinforces the underside of the top, and the spruce top bracing is scalloped to provide the perfect balance of strength and light weight to ensure the best tone and volume. The forward-X top bracing pattern has been the preferred method of top bracing for almost 100 years. It gives these brand-new guitars a true, vintage tone right out of the box.

The Details

All of the pearl inlay designs are rooted in the old traditions and executed with taste and skill. The distinctive Dalmatian tortoise teardrop-shaped pickguard is a Blueridge innovation - already widely copied by other makers. You’ll find small details like the carved neck volute on the back of the BR-180 series headstock that reflects the hand-craftsmanship of a bygone age. All these details of proper design and craftsmanship resemble costly boutique guitars retailing for 3 or 4 times the affordable price of a Blueridge!

Legendary Tone Woods And Clean Lines

The Blueridge guitars of the Historic Craftsman Series possess a tone unequalled by any other brand and the reason is the use of a legendary tonewood - Adirondack spruce. Each guitar in this series has a top of this exclusive, costly tonewood - graduated to just the right thickness to allow the best tone and volume. When combined with a back and sides of select solid mahogany or select rosewood, Adirondack spruce guarantees a tone that really resembles a fine, old collectible. All structural details closely follow the finest prewar examples, while the slim, easy-playing necks are a decided improvement that will please the modern player. A fully adjustable truss rod guarantees that each neck will stay in perfect alignment and can always be quickly adjusted. All cosmetic details are styled in the true vintage manner to please the collector, aficionado and the average player. The higher models are decorated with delicate wooden Herringbone trim or borders of sparkling abalone pearl with lavish pearl inlays in fingerboard and peghead. Any guitarist can experience the quality and style of a costly vintage collectible for a very moderate price in these Historic Craftsman Series guitars!
