Mahogany neck with Modified Low Oval neck profile with High Performance taper (1-3/4\" wide at nut, 2-1/8\" at 12th fret, 2-3/16\" string spacing at saddle), ebony fretboard with old style pearl dot markers, nickel butterbean tuners (vintage style, open gear).

I like the Martin D-18 Guitar with Case for it's simplicity, its timeless classic design, and because it's the model I see Bluegrass players using most often. Mine is as plain looking as they come, though the top grain is nothing to scoff at. The back and sides are far milder than my Gibson Hummingbird. It sounds and plays incredible. It's loud, clear and punchy, not too much bass or treble with plenty of mid-range . |

As for tone, that's very subjective. I've owned this guitar for several months now and the tone is only getting better. I feel the recent redesign Martin D-18 Guitar with Case was an excellent move on Martin's part. |
