This is the original long winded description in which we've tried to cover every aspect of this product (including some decidedly tongue-in-cheek humourous bits!) to ensure that you, the customer, know exactly what you can expect for your money, so please, read on...

  What you get for your money ('Standard' Control Plate as listed): Top quality CTS (A250k Volume/B250k Tone), 1/4" solid-shaft pot's; true-Vintage Mullard Mustard, swinging Mullard Tropical Fish or Oh-so-smooth Soviet K40Y-9 capacitors (0.047uF Tone, 0.001uF/150k Treble Bleed, and 0.01uF  in Series, Position [1] on the switch); Fender/CRL 5-way selector switch; the latest flexible and heatproof silicon-covered 22AWG multi-strand hookup, far more suited to the cramped environment of a Tele' control cavity than any of the alternatives (though traditional Fender 'push-back' cloth-covered wire is available on request ); all mounted on a UK manufactured premium quality heavily-plated Telecaster control plate with a black barrel selector switch tip.*

NB: these now come with the much more 'user friendly' screw-fit terminals as seen in glorious Technicolor close-up in the Top R/H photo' as standard

*(should you require it a new, pre-wired Switchcraft  jack socket will be included completely free gratis - for those of you who actually manage to read this far!)

Incidentally: should you really like the look/sound of this setup, apart from the solderless aspect, I can build it without the screw-fit terminals, and include detailed instructions on how to connect/solder your p'up wiring in yourself - just send a message with your preference...


PLEASE NOTE: It has been highlighted that some customers are removing the previously included chrome domed knobs to fit their own (this can do more harm than good as they're quite a tight fit - I've even pulled the shaft right out a pot. myself on more than one occasion!) so, from here on in, if you DO require the knobs please specify in a message with your order in the relevant box and I'll happily include them free of charge, otherwise the default spec. is...

  What it does: Switch positions [3] [4] & [5] are your regular pre-67 Telecaster 'Bridge/Both/Neck' settings respectively, in addition position [2] runs both pickups parallel 'Half Out-of-Phase' for a pleasing 'Pseudo-Strat' effect, and position [1] pushes the neck pickup through the series 0.01uF cap. on the selector-switch for a pretty cool vintage Tele 'Twang' with a 10% less 'bottom' than [5] - Recent Feedback suggests that [1] is perfect for lead work through a 'clean' channel on your amp. and [2] is apparently "Awesome" when overdriven.
  It should be pointed out that an 'Audio/Log' (A) volume pot. is fitted as standard, which is really more suited to gigging as most of the control is between 7-10 (or '11' if you are of a certain age! ); if you prefer a more 'controllable' volume for, say, Studio work please request a 'Linear' (B) volume pot.
  ALSO: If there are any other variations you would like built into your plate please enquire...

  Will it fit? The majority of current control plates listed need a cavity with a minimum depth of 34mm and a minimum width of 25mm (standard Telecaster dimensions). C-2-C of the control plate-to-body mounting holes is 150mm. Your current control plate will be either 32mm or 34mm wide; please state if yours is a 34mm as 32mm will supplied as standard...
  NB: On some later Tele' models the rout is not the same depth for the full length of the cavity; the middle third is only 25mm (1" ) deep and would need removing to accommodate my standard control plate as pictured above (or any other non-stock control plate for that matter ). Removing the wood to level the cavity is actually very easy (this mod has been carried out on our own and customers' guitars several times to good affect...) without affecting the outward appearance at all. You really should then improve on the often poor stock shielding at the same time.

ALSO listed is a compact, low-profile 'Import' version: Same impressively high quality and performance CTS build, only scaled down to fit into the 'tighter' control cavities to be found in some Tele-style bodies...

  Do you really need it? Absolutely! In fact, you should really, really WANT it! You owe it to your ears to at least give it a try; who wouldn't  want FIVE quality Tone options at the flick of a switch? Let's face it, who doesn't  get a smug sense of self-satisfaction out of getting one(two?)-up on their mates?  Boys (& Girls...) and their toys and all that!   Of course, all joking aside, the real beauty of it is you then get those highly desirable 'Custom-Shop'  tones from a mass-produced instrument; without having to pay an arm and a leg for the privilege; ultimately it's all about enjoyment, and how satisfying is it to know that you didn't have to take a trip to your local music store with a pocket-full of cash for the work you did instead to get those sounds from your favourite guitar everyone is complementing you on!

  One thing we will ask here though: if you require a Relic control plate please, please let us know and we will build you one for little more than the price of a standard control plate. This is a necessary request because an order was once returned with a very nice covering letter asking for it to be repaired following a less-than-perfect home-relic job. Better safe than sorry.. .

  This standard configuration works equally well on any model of  Tele' (or Tele-style) guitar fitted with two (or three)-wire p'ups; Four/five-wire Humbuckers will work as per the Manufacturers instructions for non-coil split applications without any modifications. However, if you do intend installing alternative p'up/switching configurations drop us a message for an individually tailored quote for a custom plate:
 
* If you are using Humbuckers it is imperitive that you let us know in order for the pot/cap. values to be adjusted accordingly, as per Manufacturers' spec. *

The plate in the main photo' above (green background ) is from one of our own FSGuitars Custom Telecasters  ( 5-way switching and modified TBX tone-control ): It didn't have to be made solderless but we were curious to see if it could be done; there's FOUR Mullard Mustard cap's and two resistors shoehorned in there, with full-size pot's!!

  These also come with a 'Limited Lifetime Guarantee' - simply make sure you keep your enclosed paperwork and in the unlikely event of any manufacturing failure occurring just return it and it will be replaced free of charge; all you would pay is your Postage.
  ( Naturally, any damage arising from incorrect installation or misuse is not covered but just ask anyway, we can always sort something out...)
