ESP wide neck 6-string (classical 52mm nut mega width) electric: HB & single

ESP LTD Custom: mega-wide neck
Made for the ultimate monster hands, or for any classical guitarist who fancies doing some electric diversification.

EMG type ESP humbucker & Schecter single coil conversion.
This was an ESP 8 string and it has a 54mm neck width; neck relief is controlled by twin double acting truss rods.
I fitted a 7 string Cibson type TOM bridge and stop tail replacing the Fender type through body strung bridge... and I expanded the 63mm E to E standard string spacing to 68mm E to E.
To start with I first strung it up with tens yesterday, and thought classical guitar technique might prefer the feel of slightly heavier bass strings, so the E and A were a shade heavier; today though I changed my mind and cut off the tens and fitted a straight set of nines for a faster feel on the 25.5 inch scale... sort of on the basis that a classical guitarist who buys a guitar like this is looking for a new experience so being able to bend and wizz around on nines will fit the bill... but if you buy it and know you want tens just tell me and I will fit them before I do the final pre posting set-up.
On the guitar knobs: the metalic one is the volume and the black aluminium one is tone.On pickup selection: forward gives you the clear Fender toned Schecter pickup, or back for the driven middle boosted humbucker... halfway you get both at the same time with complex harmonics but in quite a bright telecasterish sense.
Tuning is simple and stable from the smooth ESP machine heads to the solid stop-tail.
For ten years now I have been playing my converted 7 string guitars in wide neck six string form, so I wondered if this might be too big for me to feel happy on... it is though just a day I have been playing it now so its early to say; my hands are fairly average in size and just a bit stumpy without any great spread, but I think I could get to like it quite easily.Really though I have made it for either monster hands or someone with the classical technique to benefit from it.
This might be the biggest six string guitar ever built... at least in terms of the spread of the strings, and is certainly utterly unique.
Thanks for having a look,Mark D Phillips....... (Phillips Cleartone Conversions)
