FANTASTIC VINTAGE MORRIS MC106 CLASSICAL GUITAR IN EXCELLENT CONDITION

Please read my 7 days return policy at the bottom of the page.

*************************************************************************

If you are thinking about a purchase of a used vintage guitar you need to accept the fact that such guitar may have cosmetic flaws solely associated with its age, but not related to any particular damage. For example their finishes change their look over the years and are not glossy and cristal clear like on brand new guitar. I see guitars as musical instruments, not a furniture. When I describe guitar as being in excellent condtion I don't talk only about its cosmetics but mostly about its structural & functional condition, sound and playbility. If you are seeking a perfect looking guitar you should abandon a thought about buying a used vintage one, especially from me.

I don't offer "sound samples" because they never reflect true sound of a guitar as we hear it playing in our own room. You can greatly change tonality of any guitar by using different strings.

                            Morris MC-106

If you are not familiar with this Japanese guitar making company, be advised that their guitars have always offered exceptional value for the player. Hence, you will always find these guitars among my listings.

This guitar was made in 1980-ties. It survived in practically mint condition, with only some very fine sign of “regular wear”.

This guitar produces clean and sweet treble notes, deep and vibrating basses, all at impressive volume, well balanced, with typical for Jacaranda overtones and extended sustain.

In today's world, due to serious scarcity of such beautifuly figured Brazilian Rosewood  such guitars are priced much higher than they were priced just 10 years ago.

Specifications:

Top: Cedar

Back & Sides: High Grade Figured Brazilian Rosewood Laminates

Only a total novice into the world of classical guitars can question greatness of Japanese made laminates. They have nothing in common with modern era cheap particle-board laminates. They are nothing but solid wood plates glued together. hence in fact nothing but a reinforced solid woods. They perform no different from solid woods, while don't crack as easily, are much easier to work with, and allow for much lower prices of instruments. Such guitars are true blessing for guitar enthusiasts with limited funds.

Neck: Mahogany

Fingerboard: Ebonized Rosewood

Scale: 650 mm

Nut width: 52 mm

Nut & Saddle: Bone

Current action: 3.5 mm under E6 and 3.00 mm under E1.

This guitar will be shipped in used case of minimal value. You don’t pay for the case. You only pay for the guitar. Please consider this case as a free bonus and don’t expect too much. I will not accept any complaints regarding the condition of the case.

Message to Australian buyers !!!!!

In order to ship a package with guitar to Australia at affordable rate +/- $100 (USPS International Priority Mail), height of such package can’t exceed 42” and its girth+ length can’t exceed 97”. Therefore I will pack the guitar into a case that is short enough to meet this requirement.

Some info related to this guitar

Moridaira (Morris Guitars)

Founded in 1967 by Toshio "Mori" Moridaira, the Moridaira factory produced high-quality guitars, including the infamous Morris badged guitar. Moridaira also produced badged guitars for Hohner including Coronado, Futurama, H.S. Anderson, Lotus (some) and Sakai.

The Morris Guitars company has been building quality handcrafted instruments in Nagano, Japan for a long time.  Mr. Toshio Moridaira, the founder, was the first distributor in Japan to carry both Fender and Cibson lines. In 1964, due to his working relationship with Cibson, Mr. Moridaira was able to visit the Cibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan. An employee at Cibson nicknamed him “Mori” at that time.

In 1967, he founded the Morris Guitars company. He named it Morris, taken from the nickname given to him a while back. Morris produced copies of dreadnought and small jumbo models based on Martin and Cibson designs. Since then, Morris Guitars have enjoyed an outstanding reputation in Japan and other countries for making high quality guitars.

In 1974, Morris introduced their guitars at the NAMM show. In 1978, Morris introduced the Tornado line, thin body acoustic-electric guitars inspired by the Ovation design. Up until the early 80s, the U.S. market saw a variety of guitars that Morris imported from Japan.

In 2001, after a lengthy absence, Morris Guitars re-entered the U.S. market. They participate in the annual Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA. Morris Guitars currently offer a wonderful line of fingerstyle guitars with a middle price range. Custom hand built models are also available. Today, Morris Guitars are played by some of the world’s finest fingerstyle guitarists. Our products are available through a small number of dealers here in the U.S.

Terada were established in 1912 at Nagoya and concentrate mostly on making Semi-acoustic and Acoustic guitars and have made guitars for Ibanez, Orville by Cibson, Cibson Japan, Gretsch and other well-known brands as well. At their production peak (in the late 1970s/1980s/early 1990s) they were producing around 10,000 guitars a month using 3 factories, the Higashiku factory, the Kanie factory and the Shirakawa factory. Terada's output is now about an 1/8 of what it was at their peak and they are still actively producing guitars at their Kanie factory.

Terada was one of the top guitar manufacturers in Japan and also made the only Martin guitar ever made outside the US- The Martin Shenandoa. Martin were forced by rivals - Cibson, Fender and Guild- to cease production when in Japan when it was pointed out their advertising specifically stated that all Martins were made entirely in the US. As I understand it, Terada were ultimately 'taken over' by Guild and eventually ceased production of their own models in the late 80's.

Returns

If you are not happy with your purchase you may return the guitar for a refund of a purchase price of a guitar.  The cost of shipping both ways will not be refunded.

All you need to do is to:

1.    Notify me within 5 days after delivery

2.    Pack guitar the same way I do it, using the same box and materials

3.    Ship it back to me within next 2 days

Another words I expect this “trail” period to occur within +/- 7 days. Naturally guitar has to be returned in the same condition as I ship it to you. This is simply honest offer for honest buyers. My goal is to make your purchase as risk free as possible. I know very well that spending $1000 of hard earned money is not emotionally easy undertaking for majority of guitar lovers. I am sure that reading my feedback can ease a bit your “purchase anxiety” but it still will be there no matter how hard I try.
