The Ibanez AZ2204 is available in two colors, Ice Blue Metallic and Hazy Rose Metallic. It features a Gotoh T1802 tremolo bridge with machined titanium saddles and a machined steel tremolo block for quick response and thick lows and rich highs. The bridge has a 10.5mm string spacing and snap-in construction for easy tremolo arm loading. The guitar also has a dyna-MIX 9 switching system with an Alter switch for nine sound variations, including a humbucker sound simulated from the combination of two single coil pickups.

The Seymour Duncan Hyperion pickups have a moderate output through Alnico-5 magnets to keep the clarity of the fundamental tone when using distortion sound and to deliver a clear pick attack. The guitar has an oil-impregnated bone nut and stainless steel frets for superior tuning stability, warm rich resonance, and excellent corrosion resistance. The wide and tall fret-type offers a quick response, good articulation when playing chords and clear tone when playing single notes.

The S-TECH WOOD roasted maple fretboard with black dot inlays provides a superior attack, well-balanced tone, and rich sustain. The fretboard edge is finished with a smooth curve for supreme neck grip comfort. The neck is an Oval C S-TECH WOOD roasted maple neck, which increases the wood's stability, durability, water resistance, and tolerance of temperature changes. The neck is sealed with an oil finish that gives it the feel of a well-played guitar neck.

The guitar has an ergonomic rear body contour with a shallow body back contour and a big forearm contour that makes the guitar body fit the player naturally, increasing playing comfort. The AZ body has a deep waist and different radii on each body edge curve, making it easier to play in both standing or sitting positions. The Gotoh Magnum Lock machine heads with H.A.P. (Height Adjustable Post) system allows for the adjustment of string posts for the appropriate tension of each string. The Luminlay side dot position marks make it easy for players to see fretboard position marks when performing on dark stages.
