Magnum mid-70s Japanese electric guitar, Line6 gig bag, custom, maple fretboard
This is an amazing electric guitar. It was made in Japan in the mid-70s as a C-Les-paul copy.It has big original frets and a varnished maple fretboard on a maple neck, which is very unusual on these models.Honestly, this is the very best electric guitar neck I've ever played. The action is very low, and it plays like butter.(Note that the strings are ten years old. I got this out today for the first time in ten years--I switched from guitar to mandolin, but I'd never sold this--and it was still in tune, but you will need to change the strings to your favorites.)The tuners are Planet Waves locking tuners, in gold and black--not cheap. It comes with a Line6 gig bag, which I consider the best of all gig bags--very sturdy with barely flexible heavy foam padding.Beautiful expensive and comfortable Martin strap. The back of this guitar has had a lot of the wood routed out, lightening it by a pound or two, but it's still a heavy instrument. The pickups and pots are original, as is the bridge. So, what are you seeing on the front and back?Next to the lead/rhythm pickup selector is a five position selector switch that moves from direct through to a variety of capacitors that affect the tone. I prefer the setting that makes this guitar sound like a big fat Cibson jazz guitar, as I love that sound.Next to the tone and volume controls is a mini-toggle, a small pot, and a hole for making adjustments for circuitry that makes this guitar sound sort of like an acoustic-electric guitar. I don't recall the brand. I bought it on the Stew-Mac web site, and it was expensive. So with a flick of a toggle this guitar can move from jazz guitar to acoustic, sort of. That's very nice if you sometimes solo and sometimes strum.I have over $600 in this guitar, which I bought used around fifteen years ago.
