This is the new SRS808 Acoustic Electric Guitar from Maton and its a beauty!

The Maton SRS808 has been hand crafted with a solid Western Red Cedar Top and Solid Victorian Blackwood back and sides. The SRS 808 is a wonderful sounding guitar with the combination of Cedar and Blackwood (same genus as Koa) coming together to deliver a rich, and balanced tone.

Maton have completely rethought the way they brace their guitars and the SRS808 features a forward shifting of the X braces and the shifting of scallop peaks to nodal points around the soundboard. These changes have resulted in a tremendous enhancement in the way the top vibrates. The shifting of the X braces has also allowed the inclusion of a second, parallel tone bar which allows the scalloping of both tone bars, thereby spreading the load while reducing mass.
 
Adjusted bracing heights as well as an arched back with a locked 15 foot radius has resulted in improved plate resonance separation between the top and back of the guitar.
 
This new Solid Road Series SRS808 sounds much bigger than you would expect to hear from a guitar of this size.

Maton's design brief was to build a smalle bodied guitar with a full, open, lower frequency response while still delivering a crisp, well defined treble response.

In our opinion, this is a guitar that amazes us at first strum, then continues to impress as each aspect of the sound of the guitar meets and surpasses our expectations...simply brilliant.
