This dulcimer is not your usual type of dulcimer. It's highly customised to cater for all the various advanced playing techniques. I paid over $1,100 Aust. to have this dulcimer made for me. It was made by one of the best known and trusted dulcimer luthiers in America ..... David "Harpmaker" Lynch. He has a very good reputation.

Here are the features on this dulcimer that you just won't find in this multi combination on other dulcimers:

(1) It is fully chromatic ..... therefore on this dulcimer there's no missing notes at all.

(2) The frets are made of the strongest and longest lasting metal (stainless steel). Most dulcimers don't use stainless steel. These frets will last for many, many long years with virtually ZERO fret wear. There's none better.

(3) There's arches under the fingerboard so that a Dunlop capo can be used. Using a guitar capo in this way is FAR superior to the usual type of dulcimer capo used. It only takes a few seconds to attach the guitar  capo and it always works first time every time (unlike traditional dulcimer capos). I'll include the capo when I ship the dulcimer ..... it's the same capo that's in the 3rd photo. Other dulcimers almost always don't come with fingerboard arches, so this type of capo can't be used on them.

(4) It has what's called a "false back" on the underside. This lifts the dulcimer up off your lap whilst playing. This means that the tone is not muted (like on other dulcimers), because the "inner" back of the dulcimer doesn't touch your lap.

(5) The depth of the sides of this dulcimer are VERY deep ... 2 and 3/4 inches (it's even a bit deeper than this ... 3 and 3/8 inches.... if you take into consideration the presence of the false back). This helps with volume and tone, and over the coming years as the tone opens up more and more it will become a very loud dulcimer indeed.

(6) The shape of this dulcimer is called an "hourdrop" shape. It's a combination of a traditional hourglass shape and a teardrop shape.

(7) The solid cedar top is absolutely first class grade. No imperfections whatsoever and with perfect straight grain.

(8) This dulcimer is a 3 string dulcimer. The string order can be in the traditional order (as it currently is), or easily reversed if you prefer the bass string to be closest to you, and the high treble string on the far side.

(9) The scale length is 25 and 3/4 inches. This is VERY comfortable and makes finger stretches much more manageable compared to longer scale length dulcimers.

(10) This dulcimer can be strung with either loop end or ball end strings.

There's absolutely no structural faults with this dulcimer, which was made for me this year. No cracks.  Solid cedar top and solid walnut back/sides. The sealed, die cast tuners work perfectly. It comes with a gig bag that fits perfectly.

The dulcimer will be solidly packed in the same container that it came in over here from the USA.
