Sergei de Jonge – Doubletop 2016

It was in the late 60’s when Sergei de Jonge learned how to build guitars as the first apprentice of Jean Claude Larrivée, the soon-to-be godfather of Canadian guitar builders. In 1972 de Jonge established his own workshop and built henceforth mainly classical guitars before starting building steel string guitars again a few years later. He also started sharing his knowledge and skills with his daughter Joshia, who now runs her own workshop.
The back and sides of this de Jonge Double-Top guitar are built with beautiful Indian rosewood. The top is made of very fine spruce that has very regular growth rings. Regarding the sound we can say that it’s very strong and extensive, while also warm and balanced. Due to the elevated fingerboard and the pleasing shape of the neck, playing this instrument is extremely comfortable and makes a lot of fun. A Hiscox Pro II case is included.
