ShonKyBox 4

This Shonky box Cigar box style guitar is designed for the acoustic folk / Old time player in mind.

It has a large body made from reclaimed Pine and Tea chest panels

The neck is made from reclaimed Honduran mahogany with a fretted Purpleheart neck. 

The neck is attached via a tenon joint like an acoustic guitar.  leaving the body completely hollow.

It has 2 disc Piezo's which are wired to a pre-amp endpin jack plug. 

There is also a volume dial just inside the sound hole although this effectively turns the volume on or off with not much in between but fairly useful as it is. 

The preamp runs off a PP3 9v Battery which is kept in a pouch inside the control cavity. 

Other features include vintage style open geared tuning machines an aged brass tailpiece Aluminium and Shonkinite fret markers. 

It has 25.5" scale length

It's finished with a smooth Matt clearcoat lacquer over 3 coats of danish oil. 

It is strung with new nickel strings and tuned GDGB. (open G). It can of course be tuned to a variety of other tunings. 

It sounds absolutely beautiful acoustically with rounded tone and a loud projection. It can be plugged into an amp. PA or recording desk. As this is built as an acoustic instrument I would recommend an acoustic amp.
