Vintage 1957 Gretsch Country Club Electric Hollowbody Guitar Rare White-1950's

Vintage 1957 Gretsch Country Club Electric Hollowbody Guitar Rare White-1950's

This listing is for a Vintage 1957 Gretsch Country Club Electric Hollowbody Guitar.  This is a very cool and rare 1950's Gretsch Country Club and was a special custom ordered model in rare white finish with black binding. The serial number on this guitar is 23704 and the Gretsch label is stamped 6192 and handwritten 6193 Special. This guitar was appraised by George Gruhn in 2014 and the full appraisal is pictured for your reference. George Gruhn is one the most respected vintage guitar authorities in the world and I find his appraisal very thorough and accurate. This guitar was made in Brooklyn, NY in 1957 by Gretsch MFG.CO. According to the Gruhn appraisal the guitar was special ordered white with black binding. Most Country Club's are Sunburst, Natural or Cadillac Green. The pickguard is original and matches the black binding. The gold bigsby vibrato assembly is not original. The other gold hardware is original but the gold has been re-plated so it's looks newer and shiny. The neck heel was cracked and repaired and these is touch up on the white finish in various areas of the guitar, see appraisal. According to the appraisal the bridge was at one time attached to the body with screws to be held in place. When I got the guitar the bridge was repaired and currently the bridge is floating on the body as it's supposed to be and is no longer permanently attached to the body.  There are two small filled holes on the sides of the bridge and under the bridge are two small filled holes. The guitar is a very good player and sounds really good. The neck is straight and the guitar plays really well and is set up for Jazz and rock-a-billy swing playing. The action is slightly on the high side and as is typical with Gretsch guitars from the 1950's the neck angle is slightly shallow and the bridge is all the way down. I do not believe the guitar need a neck re-set and if a lower action was desired it could be achieved by shaving the bottom of the bridge. The guitar comes as pictured with it's Original Tweed Gretsch case which is very cool but a little worn. The Gruhn appraisal will also be included with the guitar. Please look at the pictures and email with questions. The guitar will be expertly packed for safe shipping. I am happy to ship internationally but will not falsify customs documents.
