Reminiscent of those coveted pre-war Martin guitars, the D-42 embodies everything you've come to expect from a Martin acoustic, from premium choice tonewoods, to shimmering vintage-style appointments, all tied together with an acoustic voice that is truly beautiful. The Martin D-42 is crafted from solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, and combined with a solid Sitka spruce soundboard with forward shifted scalloped X bracing to help produce its well-balanced tone--from its massive, deep low-end, to its full, rich midrange and clear, articulate trebles. The Martin D-42 is as much of a treat to the eyes as it is to the ears, adorned with grained ivoroid body binding, black/white boltaron inlays, a style 45 back purfling, and stunning abalone pearl accents that grace the top and the soundhole.The select hardwood neck is carved into the comfortable low profile shape and topped off with a grained ivoroid-bound ebony fingerboard that boasts gorgeous select abalone pearl Style 45 Snowflake inlays. A perfect match to the fingerboard, the ebony belly bridge is inlaid with select abalone snowflake inlays, and employs a 16 radius compensated bone saddle. At the other end of the guitar, the bound headstock wears a select abalone pearl block Martin logo and comes equipped with a set of gold Gotoh open-geared tuners with butterbean knobs, both contributing to the traditional Martin vibe of this D-42.

This beautiful dreadnought takes its cue from Martin's much-loved prewar period guitars. It boasts many vintage features such as forward shifted scalloped bracing, traditional Style 45 snowflake fingerboard inlays, grained ivoroid bindings, and gold tuning gears with "butterbean" knobs.
